PARTICIPANTS:
- TEAMS TO CONSIST OF MINIMUM Two (2) PERSONS AND MAXIMUM SIX (6) PERSONS FISHING. NON-FISHERMEN ON THE BOAT MAY ASSIST IN ANY WAY NECESSARY, EXCEPT THAT THEY MAY NOT a) SET A HOOK INTO A BILLFISH b) HANDLE THE ROD WHILE A BILLFISH IS BEING PLAYED. (AS PER IGFA RULES)
- APPLICATIONS WILL ONLY BE ACCEPTED UPON RECEIPT OF PROPERLY COMPLETED OFFICIAL TOURNAMENT ENTRY FORMS PRIOR TO THE CLOSING DATE FIXED BY THE ORGANISING COMMITTEE.
- ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST BE IN POSSESSION OF ALL VALID LICENCES THAT MAY BE REQUIRED BY THE MOZAMBIQUE AUTHOURITIES. (FOR ANGLERS’ ACCOUNT)
- ONLY OFFICIAL SPONSORS OF THE CADSAS BILLFISH INTERNATIONAL MAY BE ADVERTISED IN ANY WAY.
- Teams will be responsible to pay for all launching, fishing, Marlin and Bazaruto Marine Park licenses prior to the tournament.
2 ENTRY FEES:
- THE ENTRY FEE FOR THE COMPETITION IS $200 PER TEAM, AND ALL ANGLERS MUST BE FULLY PAID UP MEMBERS OF CADSAS. CLOSING DATE FOR ENTRIES IS close of the day before your team participates.
- NO REFUNDS FOR WITHDRAWALS WILL BE MADE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
- ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST SIGN THE COMPLETED INDEMNTITY FORM
- ONLY THE FIRST 20 FULLY PAID UP BOATS WILL BE ACCEPTED. PLEASE ADVISE CADSAS OF YOUR INTENT TO ENTER AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE, FOR LOGISTICAL PURPOSES.
3 BOATS:
- ALL BOATS MUST BE REGISTERED AND COMPLY WITH MOZAMBIQUE REGULATIONS.
- THE ORGANISING COMMITTEE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO INSPECT BOATS FOR SAFETY COMPLIANCE.
- SPONSOR STICKERS IF SUPPLIED MUST BE DISPLAYED ON BOATS IN ORDER TO QUALIFY FOR SPOT PRIZES.
- ALL BOATS MUST BE SEAWORTHYAND ALL SKIPPERS MUST SIGN A SAFETY EQUIPMENT CHECKLIST PRIOR TO THE COMPETITION START.
- ALL BOATS MUST HAVE A WORKING RADIO OPERATING ON INTERNATIONAL RADIO CHANNEL16. THERE WILL ALSO BE A TOURNAMENT CHANNEL. (CHANNEL 12)
- ALL BOATS MUST HAVE AT LEAST 1 CELLPHONE WITH MOZAMBIQUE SIM CARD OR INTERNATIONAL ROAMING ON BOARD OR A SATPHONE.
4 SCORING:
- ALL BILLFISH TACKLE MUST COMPLY WITH IGFA RULES
- LINE CLASS IS OPEN WITH A MAXIMUM OF 60KG/130LBS.
- FULL COMPLIANCE OF IGFA RULES WILL BE ENFORCED.
- All catch returns must be reported to the control boat or Committeedaily.
5 WEIGH-IN:
- ALL BOATED FISH MUST BE WEIGHED BY THE OFFICIAL WEIGH MASTER AT THE WEIGHPOINT AS PER PROGRAM TIMES UNLESS DELAYED BY A LATE HOOK UP.
- TERMINAL TACKLE USED MUST REMAIN WITH ANY BILLFISH BROUGHT TO THE WEIGHBAY FOR INSPECTION BY THE WEIGH MASTER.
6 FISHING:
- NO FISHING IN ANY SANCTUARY AREA. (FISH IN LEGAL AREAS ONLY).
- LINES UP AT 16H30.
- RADIO AND BEACH CONTROL WILL CEASE AT 17H30 UNLESS SAFETY REQUIRES OTHERWISE, OR IF A LATE HOOK UP HAS BEEN RADIOD IN.
- SEARCH AND RESCUE PROCEDURES WILL BE INITIATED FOR OVERDUE BOATS; COST FOR ANY SEARCH AND RESCUE PROCEDURES WILL BE FOR THE ACCOUNT OF THE VESSEL IN DISTRESS INCLUDING ANY ABORTED MISSIONS.
- EXTRA TIME WILL BE ALLOWED WITHOUT PENALTY IF HOOK UP IS REPORTED BEFORE 16H30.
- A LATE HOOK UP WILL ONLY BE PERMITTED IF TIMEOUSLY CONFIRMED WITH RADIO CONTROL OR COMMITTEE BOAT AND MAY ALSO BE REPORTED BY CELL PHONE.
- IN THE EVENT OF A LATE HOOKUP, RADIO CONTROL WILL REMAIN ON STANDBY.
- NO BOAT MAY APPROACH ANOTHER BOAT WITHIN SUCH DISTANCE THAT MAY RESULT IN A FISH BEING CUT OFF UNLESS PERMITTED TO DO SO BY THE OTHER BOAT. ANY INFRINGEMENTS WILL RESULT IN THE TEAM CONCERNED BEING DISQUALIFIED FOR THAT DAY.
7 FOUL WEATHER:
- THE COMMITTEE MAY CANCEL PART OR ALL OF DAY 'S FISHING DUE TO BAD WEATHER
- NO REFUNDS. 10:00AM IS THE CUT OFF TIME WHICH WILL DETERMINE IF A DAY IS FISHED OR NOT. ANY DAY ABANDONED AFTER 10.00 WILL BE DEEMED TO HAVE BEEN FISHED.
- THE WEATHER COMMITTEE WILL BE APPOINTED BY THE ORGANISING COMMITTEE:
8 RADIO COMMUNICATION:
- ALL BOATS MUST REPORT THE NUMBER OF PAX ON BOARD EVERY DAY.
- DISREGARD OF THIS RULE WILL LEAD TO DISQUALIFICATION FOR THE DAY.
- ALL OFFICIAL COMMUNICATIONS WILL BE VIA RADIO CONTROL AND CELL PHONE.
- IN THE EVENT OF POOR RADIO RECEPTION, MESSAGES WILL BE RELAYED
VIA OTHER BOATS OR CELL PHONES.
- ALL HOOKUPS MUST BE REPORTED TO BEACH CONTROL/CONTROL BOAT WITH THE NAME OF THE ANGLER, THE TIME OF HOOK UP, ONCE LANDED THE ESTIMATED WEIGHT AND SPECIES SHOULD BE REPORTED.
9 RELEASE OF BILLFISH:
- ANY FISH BROUGHT TO THE WEIGHBAY WILL BE TREATED AS A CAUGHT FISH AND CANNOT QUALIFY AS RELEASED (EVEN IF THAT WAS THE INTENTION.) IF THE FISH IS LESS THAN 800 Lb IT WILL NOT COUNT OR SCORE
- MAXIMUM EFFORT AND TIME MUST BE SPENT TO REVIVE A FISH BEFORE RELEASE.
- DO NOT RELEASE A FISH THAT IS OBVIOUSLY DEAD, OR DYING. STAY WITH IT TILL IT SWIMS AWAY OR DIES. IF IT WAS YOUR INTENTION TO RELEASE IT, BUT IT DIED, NOTIFY THE COMMITTEE OF THIS, BUT DO NOT BRING IT TO THE WEIGHBAY.
- A PHOTOGRAPH OF ANY RELEASED FISH MUST BE PRODUCED SHOWING THE BOAT, THE LEADER IN THE WIREMAN'S HAND AND THE FISH CLEARLY VISIBLE. THE BEST WAY TO ACHIEVE THIS IS WITH VIDEO.
5. REPORT ALL HOOKUPS TO BEACH CONTROL/CONTROL BOAT. SHOULD NEITHER BE CONTACTABLE, NOTIFY ANY COMPETITION BOAT REACHABLE. THE CAMERA MUST BE HANDED IN AT RADIO CONTROL AFTER BEACHING. DATE AND TIME MUST BE CLEARLY VISIBLE IN THE PHOTOGRAPH. CHECK THAT THE TIME AND DATE SET IN YOUR DIGITAL CAMERA IS CORRECT. WHATSAPP MAY BE USED BUT IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE TEAM TO ENSURE THE VIDEO IS DELIVERED.
6. POINTS WILL BE AWARDED ONCE THE BILLFISH COMMITTEE IS SATISFIED THAT ALL RULES HAVE BEEN ADHERED TO.
7. IF YOU ARE IN ANY DOUBT OF WHETHER THE FISH WILL MAKE THE MINIMUM WEIGHT OF 800 POUNDS - RELEASE THE FISH!!! THE TAIL GIRTH SHOULD MEASURE >18 INCHES
8. TEAMS MUST ENSURE THEY HAVE A GOOD DIGITAL CAMERA SHOWING DATE AND TIME.
9. VIDEO FOOTAGE OF THE CATCH AND RELEASE IS HIGHLY ADVISABLE.
10 SCORING:
- The competition will be won by the angler and team bringing the largest Marlin, weighing over 800 pounds, to the scales.
- In the event of no fish over 800 pounds being brought to the scales, the winning team will be the team with the most points amassed by the release of fish.
- Each released Marlin will score 150 points.
- Each released Sail fish will score 30 points
- Each released spearfish will score 30 points
- In the event of a tie: The winning Team will be the Team that released a Marlin first or if no Marlin caught the first released bill fish.
- 800 pounds is equivalent to 362.87 kg on the Cadsas scale.
- 50 point bonus for first Marlin caught each day (this rule applies for the Johnny Harel Competition and not the marlin Championship) (the 50 point will be removed from the Johnny Harel scores when teams bag goes towards the Marlin Championship)
11 OTHER:
- If you fish the Johnny Harel Billfish competition, your scores will automatically go towards the Matlin Championship
- If you struggle to use the keepnet app please take a video and send it through the Bart Zwart and the Keepnet App representative.
