The measure and release category is key aspect of the tournament designed to encourage sustainable sports fishing by releasing the fish:

A. MEASURING REQUIREMENTS

1. Fish must be measured using a measure board (Please bring your own; A limited supply will be available for purchase on the evening from the committee). Measure boards should be used on a flat surface. Please ensure your measure board is approved by a tournament conveyor.

2. The fish’s snout must be touching the nose stop with the mouth closed and free of lures or lifting devices.

3. With the fish lying on top of the measuring device, measurements will be taken from the most forward part of the fish’s snout with the mouth closed to the center of the ‘V’ of the tail.

4. Every fish must have the angler number included in the picture (placed on the fish) Angler numbers are issued at registration and will be your Angler Number.

5. The Keepnet App will be used for recording the fish. Log into the app and take the photo. This is our first year using the app. It would be a good idea to take a second photo and save it to your phone should there be any technical issues. Junior anglers should email their catches to info@jtfishingcomp.co.nz

6. All measurements will be made in 0.5 centimetres increments and the total length of the fish is determined by the weigh master's discretion.

7. Please make sure fish are released after the photo if you wish to enter it in a prize category (we require honesty in this section). 1 fish per angler for each category.

8. No Measure and Release pictures will be accepted after 5 pm.

Any doubt as to the authenticity or accuracy of the measured fish can result in disqualification at the sole discretion of the Tournament Conveyor.
