Fly Fishing

Event Rules:

General Guidelines:

Eligibility:      Open to all anglers with a valid Georgia fishing license. Participants must comply with all local fishing regulations.

Competition Dates and Times:

Start: 12/14/24 @ 6am

End: 12/14/24 @ 6pm

Location:     Any legal trout fishing waters in Georgia, USA.

Fishing Equipment:

Fly Fishing Only:   : Participants must use fly rods, reels, and artificial flies.

Barbless Hooks:     To ensure fish safety, all hooks must be barbless or have barbs crushed flat.

Fish Size Requirement:

Only trout measuring12 inches or longer      (total length) qualify for entry.

Measurement is determined from the tip of the snout to the end of the tail fin.

Submission Process:

Photograph Requirements:

Each trout must be photographed with:

A measuring device clearly showing the fish’s length.

The participant’s unique competition identifier (provided at check-in).

Photos must be clear and unedited.

Photo Submission:

Upload photos to the official competition app or designated portal within 2 hours of the catch.

Include the following details:

Date and time of catch.

Location (waterbody name).

Approximate release time.

Scoring System:

Length-Based Scoring:

Each eligible trout earns points equal to its total length in inches (rounded to the nearest quarter-inch).

Example: A 16.25-inch trout earns 16.25 points.

Bonus Points:

First fish of the day (12 inches or longer): +2 points.

Each additional fish caught and properly recorded: +1 point.

Conduct and Ethics:

All fish must be released immediately after measurement and photography.

Handle fish with care to minimize stress and injury.

Any form of cheating, such as altering photos or measurements, will result in immediate disqualification.

Safety and Responsibility:

Participants must wear life jackets when fishing from boats or kayaks.

Respect private property and follow "Leave No Trace" principles.
